Environmental Health Specialist

Duties and Responsibilities: Environmental Health Specialist are people who inspect environmental health systems and make sure people comply with the federal regulations. Their responsibilities often include reviewing permits, investigating complaints, performing inspections, etc. They make sure water and products are sanitary, and handle hazardous waste.

Salary: $53,372 - $65,540 annually*

Education: To become an environmental health specialist you are required to earn a bachelor’s degree in environmental health. Must have 1-3 years of work experience. You may also consider having a voluntary certification. It is important to have key skills because it allows you to interpret what the environmental issue might be.

Demand for this profession: Environmental specialist is projected to grow 11% from 2014-2024

Reflection: I wouldn’t like to be one there are many reasons why this job wouldn’t fit for me. I don’t stay focused most of the time and i just sometimes don’t pay pay attention of what’s around me.

"Goal setting is goal getting. Set and get." - Mark Victor Hansen

Hansen states setting a goal for yourself will make you get to your goal. When setting your goal it allows you to work for it and get you determined to work for you goal. If you don't set a goal for yourself how are you going to get your goal. For example, saying you want to get better at doing something you would set a goal for yourself. If you say you want to get better at doing something and you don't work for it, you don't try how do you expect it to come true. Determination is working for what you want. If you don't know what you want your goal to be, ask others, friends, family. There are many goals you can set for yourself. Making your goals come true allows you to work your up to the top. Set a goal and make it come true.

                                                             Columbus Day

Columbus day is on October 12, 2016. This day we celebrate the anniversary  of Christopher  Columbus arrival in the new world. This holiday we honor the achievements that columbus has made. Columbus is known for the first european to sail to the Americas. The first original celebration was in San Francisco, and was celebrated for the Italian-American heritage. We celebrate Columbus day because of the European settlement in the Americas and led to the demise of history and culture of the people.

Reflection: My thoughts on Christopher Columbus would have to be that he was a courageous man, sailing and discovering new places on his own. He deserves to have an honor roll because he did good things during this time period. Although people might say if he would've been alive today he would be in prison for doing horrible things but you never know he could’ve been a hero and a villain.

"When obedience becomes our goal, it is no longer an irritation; instead of a stumbling block, it becomes a building block." - James E. Faust

James E. Faust defines that being an obedient person can lead you to being a successful person. Being a hard-working person can allow you to reach your goal. It's like a pyramid, your goal is at the very top. What do you have to do to get to that point? You have to work for what you want and for what you want to come true. This creates a building block.When being a lazy person and choosing the wrong  it becomes a stumbling block. Choosing the wrong is not going to get  you anywhere it's just going to get you further away from what you want to come true. When being an obedient person it allows your building block to become stronger and better. Being obedient will help you get to the very top and will help you reach your goal.

                                                                  Firefighter

Duties and Responsibilities: Duties of a firefighter is to protect the community in any situations such as floods, earthquakes, chemical spills, etc. They are on duty 24 hours and they must respond immediately in an emergency. They also need to be prepared with equipment ready to go when called in for an emergency.

Salary: $49,330 annually

Education: To become a firefighter you are required to have a high school diploma. Associate and Bachelor degrees in fire science are available at colleges or 4 year universities. There are also programs that help you with learning basics like how many of the fir equipment is used. These programs take about 4 years to complete and it involves practical training in the field.

Demand for this profession: The employment for firefighters was projected to grow slower than most of the other occupations. The growth rate was 7% from 2012 to 2022.

 

Reflection: I would like to become one, just that I wouldn't like to be working 24 hours everyday. It does seem like an interesting medical career because you get to use all these different equipment and learn different things while working with others.

"We learn to do by doing." - Spencer W. Kimball

Kimball means if you don't try out new things you are not going to know how to do it. Doing helps you learn. If you try something and you fail, try again until you get it right. You will eventually get the hang of it and learn how to do it. If you've never failed, you never tried something. For example, if you don't know how to swim you practice swimming and you learn to do by doing. Doing or making things happen will allow you to get better and better each time. Trying new things and practicing on how to do that subject will allow to reach your goal. Spencer W. Kimball, speaks about learning to do something will allow you to do it very well in the future. It's never too late to try something new.

                                          Emergency Medical Technician

Duties and Responsibilities: Emergency Medical Technicians’ travel to the scene of an emergency. They provide basic medical care and provide transportation for patients that need medical treatment. They perform basic life saving techniques at the scene of an accident. Some things they might do at the scene might be control bleeding, bandaging injuries etc.

Salary: Median Salary $31,700 for emergency technicians and paramedics.

Education: EMT’s are required to pass a training program before they provide medical services. Basic, intermediate, and paramedic are the three levels of training available. Students must take a associates degree program, this includes general education such as medical courses in anatomy, physiology, biology, and composition.

Demand for this profession: Projected job growth (2014-2024) 24% for EMT’s and for paramedics.

Reflection: I feel like I wouldn’t be fit for this job simply because I feel like this puts pressure on you and I can’t work well with pressure. It seems like a very interesting job I just wouldn’t be able to work with pressure.
