Their responsibilities often include reviewing permits, investigating complaints, performing inspections, etc. They make sure water and products are sanitary, and handle hazardous waste.

Salary: $53,372 - $65,540 annually*

Education: To become an environmental health specialist you are required to earn a bachelor’s degree in environmental health. Must have 1-3 years of work experience. You may also consider having a voluntary certification. It is important to have key skills because it allows you to interpret what the environmental issue might be.
