Physical Therapist

Duties and Responsibilities: Physical therapists help patients recover from injuries, illnesses, and surgeries. These physical therapists help patients regain their movement and cope with pain. Some daily tasks the physical therapists might do on a daily basis is prepare for upcoming therapy sessions, during the therapy sessions they often take notes on how the patient may be responding to the treatment. They assist patients for example, pushing them in wheelchairs, helping them walk and other. Not only that but they also take care of office duties such as ordering supplies needed, answering phone calls, taking appointments, and filing paperwork.

Salary: The average salary for a physical therapists is $35,000

Education: Becoming a physical therapists requires years of education. For this medical career you would need to first earn a bachelor's degree in any health related fields and take classes such as; anatomy, physiology, biology, chemistry and physics.  Physical therapists are required to be licensed and hold a Doctor’s of Physical Therapy degree in order practice/train. To become licensed you would need to pass the National Physical Therapist Examination. Therapists need a Masters degree and certification from the National Board of Certification for Occupational Therapists. Therapists would then have to take the National Board of Certification for Occupational Therapists to become certified.

Demand or Need for Profession: If wanting to become a physical therapist the percent for employment opportunities is growing by 36% which is faster than any other job. There are more than 2,810 employed physical therapists.

Reflection: Becoming a physical therapists sounds like an interesting job because it focuses on injuries in any part of the body. I would like to become one because I’ve always wanted to work with a job that had something to do with different parts of the body. This would honestly be a great job for me because I would like to experience it.
